Nancina Bucci, Owner and Artistic Director
Nancina began her dance career at Jersey Cape Dance and Gymnastics Academy, training in all disciplines. She continued her dance education with former Rockette, Eleanore Ryder, where she had her first experience as a teaching assistant and co-choreographer. Nancina attended Governor Livingston High School and continued her training through the musical theatre program where she was cast in four productions as a featured dancer. Nancina was also captain of the cheerleading squad, choreographing original performance routines.
Nancina attended Rutgers University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English, as well as a master’s degree in Language Arts Education. During her time at Rutgers, Nancina was an active member of Rutgers Performing Dance Company as both a dancer and choreographer. Post college, Nancina auditioned for and was accepted into Broadway Dance Center’s Professional Semester Program. She was cast in musical theater and latin jazz pieces choreographed by Jim Cooney and Ashlé Dawson. Nancina had the opportunity to perform at Symphony Space in New York City, and she also worked The Pulse Dance Convention, NYC.
In addition, Nancina danced for a season with Artsy-e, a modern dance company based out of New York City, before accepting a full time position as a 6th grade Writing teacher. She feels that her work in the classroom has positively influenced and helped to shape her teaching philosophy in the studio. With experience in working with many different types of learners, Nancina understands the importance of individuality, motivation, and the various teaching methods needed to foster confidence and success in all of her students. While teaching, Nancina was also a cheerleading coach for the CMS team, choreographed for the GLHS marching band and color guard, and choreographed the Governor Livingston High School musicals.
Nancina believes that dancers are both athletes and artists. She instills this idea in her students and encourages them to challenge themselves daily. She is also passionate about continuing her own training and dance education to bring the best instruction to StarStruck. Nancina became a member of Associated Dance Teachers of New Jersey after passing their board certified dance exam. She attends their teacher training workshops and conventions, and her students have been scholarship recipients at their annual events. Nancina has been teaching at StarStruck for the past seven years and has received numerous accolades and choreography awards at both regional and national competitions. She feels honored to have been Head Choreographer for the Elite Dance Company and the studio’s Artistic Director. Nancina is thrilled to be taking her passion for dance one step further as the new studio owner. With several years of experience as a school teacher, coach, dance instructor, and choreographer, Nancina is eager to use her background to cultivate both a positive and competitive learning environment for her students.
